The Leon Max cape is fast becoming a staple in the wardrobes of London’s fashion forward socials. Seen on Pippa Middleton last weekend, shown here en route to a shooting weekend in Scotland, the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister proved that the camel cape in heavy wool with a menswear-inspired silhouette (a colour and cut incidentally inspired by designer Leon Max’s country estate) is de rigueur for a weekend in the wilds. Last spring the single-breasted cape in black wool was also a hit with Miss Middleton. Meanwhile last week in London it made an appearance wafting out of Annabel’s in Mayfair, this time in black jacquard with a draped shoulder and cuffed armholes. It seems this piece is now de rigueur for chic night owls. It gives a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to a night out on the tiles, don’t you think?
