It’s been a bright and buzzy week for the fashion set. London saw the Fashion Awards unfold at the Royal Albert Hall. Over from America they came in force; Ralph Lauren arrived with the entire family in tow, Bruce Weber was there and Gigi beat sister Bella Hadid to take the crown as model of the year. Donatella, Karl, Kate, Anna; the most glamorous red carpet that the capital had seen in years was awash with those who have no-need-for-surnames.
It didn’t end there, the caravan then moved across the Channel to Chanel’s Metier d’Arts show at the recently re-vamped Paris Ritz, that grande dame of the Place Vendome which is right next to where Coco Chanel opened her first hat shop in 1910. Editors and celebrities sat at small tables strewn through the hotel’s salons for an old-school style show filled with the new-school crop of social-media savvy young celebrity ‘kids-of.’ Lily Depp, Georgia May Jagger et al – even Bob Dylan’s grandson was in the crowd – who modeled this annual collection that shows-off the small, traditional French artisanal houses that the great house now owns. Old and new glamour Puttin’ On the Ritz.
