Royal Academy Summer Exhibit

Captain Cook was on the cusp of discovering New Zealand during the first of these Exhibitions and - this show is the 245th - it still remains the largest art open show in the world with the Royal Academicians choosing what pieces are chosen and where it is hung. They also select their own work and display there too on the hallowed walls of Burlington House. This year one large section of those hallowed walls are filled with tapestries by the cross-dressing Grayson Perry. Meanwhile in the rest of the roomy galleries diverse works clutter the walls from roof to floor. Equally diverse was the colourful collection of society and sleb folk who cluttered the courtyard and galleries of the august Burlington. Jasmine Guinness, Lady Victoria Hervey and the Chanel muse Amanda, Lady Harlech were all out to fete the new whilst surrounded by the old.
