Film Fashion Inspiration: Anna Karenina
Every good film is good in its own way – whether you’ve read Tolstoy’s 1877 blockbuster or not, Anna Karenina is the fashion film of the season. Reuniting director Joe Wright with Keira Knightley (the worked together on Pride and Prejudice)and joined by leading men Jude Law and Aaron Johnson, the film tells the glamorous story of socialite and woman-about-Moscow, Anna, who falls for the dashing Count Vronsky (Johnson) and causes the social scandal of the century. Be inspired by the oceans 19th century tulle and lace and hooped skirts and bodices, dramatic ball gowns and big coats with baroque details and a fashion frenzy for all thing Russia. It’s just what autumn/winter 2012 was looking for. If your wardrobe’s not quite ready for a ballgown bonanza there are the sleeker A-line numbers on offer. Even light hairslides or a pair of elegant earrings or a chic pair of gloves can be used to adopt our glamorous heroine’s new moment of cinematic charm.
